‘He Happens To Be A Sinwar Too’: IDF Confirms Killing Of Hamas Gaza Chief Mohammed Sinwar In May 13 Stri

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has announced the killing of Hamas Chief Mohammed Sinwar, in May 13 strike on the grounds of the European Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The IDF officials have confirmed to this in an X post. Earlier, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced the elimination of Sinwar. In a post on X, the IDF said, “We eliminated the Head of Hamas, again. He happens to be a Sinwar too.”

The Israel Defence Forces and Shin Bet security agency in a joint statement, said they had confirmed that the May 13 strike in Khan Younis had killed Sinwar along with Muhammad Shabana and Mahdi Quara. Shabana was the commander of the terror group’s Rafah Brigade, and Quara, headed the South Khan Younis Battalion.
“The terrorists were eliminated while operating in an underground command and control center under the European Hospital in Khan Younis, deliberately endangering the civilian population in and around the hospital,” the joint statement said as reported by Times of Israel.

Who Was Mohammad Sinwar?

Mohammad Sinwar had taken over the charge of military wing of Hamas in 1991. Mohammed Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar was born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp. He was a brother of Yahya Sinwar who was killed in October 2024 during ongoing was in Gaza. Yahya Sinwar was believed to be the key architect of the October 7 attack. The Israeli forces nicknamed Mohammad Sinwar as “The Shadow” because of his involvement in secretive activities. He was involved in the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Sinwar was in the top of Israel’s most wanted list.
