Intensified Search Operations Launched In Jammu And Kashmir Following Reports Of Terrorist Infiltration

In Jammu and Kashmir, a large-scale joint anti-terrorist operation has been initiated by the Army, Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to intensify the search for terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forests of the region. The operation primarily focuses on the Kathua district and the Pir Panjal range, areas suspected of serving as infiltration routes for terrorists crossing from the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LOC).

The coordinated efforts have seen the deployment of two brigades of the Army, alongside the establishment of a mobile network aimed at enhancing security and communication in the remote Billawar region of Kathua. This strategic move is anticipated to bolster safety for local residents while improving surveillance capabilities in previously hard-to-reach areas.

Simultaneously, forces have been mobilized across various locations in the Kashmir Valley, including Pahalgam, Kokernag, Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian, Tral, Uri, Gurez, Sonmarg and Kupwara. This increased military presence comes in response to intelligence reports indicating that terrorists are utilizing dense forests near the LOC and IB to reach mountainous regions, posing a significant threat to both security personnel and civilians.

Terrorists are known to seek refuge in natural caves and temporary shelters of Gujjar, Bakarwals known as ‘dhoks,’ frequently changing their locations to evade detection. Intelligence sources estimate that between 80 to 100 Pakistani-trained terrorists may be hiding in these forested areas, receiving assistance from Over Ground Workers (OGWs).

In light of these developments, security agencies are actively working to seal infiltration points along the LOC and IB while ensuring the safety of civilian populations throughout the region. Concerns have been raised regarding a potential shift in terrorist tactics, with indications that attacks may extend beyond security forces to target civilians, particularly in areas with significant Hindu populations.

As Operation Sindoor progresses, Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the army and paramilitary forces have shift major focus to the forest area’s in their efforts to track and neutralize terrorist threats hidden within the forests of Jammu and Kashmir.
