Code Of Conduct Breached! Rajat Patidar And Pat Cummins Fined For THIS Reason!

In the latest Indian Premier League encounter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins have been fined for their teams’ slow over-rate during the match. While Cummins was penalized Rs 12 lakh as it was SRH’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, Patidar faced a heftier fine of Rs 24 lakh, as RCB committed their second slow over-rate offence this season.

The IPL’s official statement clarified the details: “As it was RCB’s second offence of the season relating to minimum over-rate violations, Patidar was fined Rs 24 lakh.” The rest of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever was lower.

Cummins, meanwhile, was fined Rs 12 lakh for SRH’s first slow over-rate offence this season, as per Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which covers minimum over-rate infractions.

RCB’s Playoff Hopes Dentied by 42-Run Defeat to SRH

On the field, RCB squandered a golden opportunity to secure a spot in the top two of the IPL points table after losing by 42 runs to a spirited Sunrisers Hyderabad side on Friday.

RCB’s defeat means they remain at 17 points, slipping to third place behind Gujarat Titans, who lead with 18 points, and Punjab Kings, who also have 17 but a better Net Run Rate (NRR). The loss dealt a significant blow to RCB’s NRR, which could prove crucial in the closing stages of the tournament.

Set a challenging target of 232 runs by SRH, largely thanks to an electrifying unbeaten 94 off 48 balls by Ishan Kishan, RCB looked to chase the total with calculated aggression. Phil Salt led the charge with a well-constructed 62 runs off 32 balls, featuring four boundaries and five sixes. Virat Kohli contributed a quick 43 off 25 balls, while Jitesh Sharma chipped in with 24 runs off 15 deliveries.

Despite these efforts, RCB could only muster 189 runs before being bowled out. This marked RCB’s first away defeat of the season and raised questions about their finishing ability under pressure.

With playoffs nearly assured, RCB will need to regroup quickly if they aim to improve their standing and challenge for the title in the remaining matches.
