Bharti Airtel yesterday introduced a new product that will identify and block evil websites in real-time through all the OTT communication platforms for example, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram among others as well as emails, web browsers, and SMSes.

The service will be effortlessly linked, and automated for free to all Airtel mobile and broadband customers, the telco said in a statement.

‘When a customer attempts to access a site identified as malicious by Airtel’s advanced security system, the loading of the page is blocked, and the customers are redirected to a page which gives the reason for blocking,’ it added.

The service is already launched in Haryana circle, and very soon it will be introduced in the whole country, as per statement.

The launch is backdropped by a surging online fraud, which presents financial dangers to unaware internet users and ordinary citizens, said Airtel, which notes that fraudulent schemes have gone beyond OTP frauds and deceitful phone calls, with millions of people falling victims of malicious online scams within the recent months.

Airtel said, its AI-driven multilayered intelligence platform is meant for protecting customers from the entire range of scams and fraud. It uses the telco’s threat detection platform which does domain filtering in all platforms and blocks the link in all devices.

‘Our AI based tool scans internet traffic, looks-up with global repositories and its own database of threat actors in real-time and blocks fraudulent websites. Our solution has already gained an astonishing level of accuracy during the 6 months of trials. We will keep working in an aggressive manner, resolutely, until we have made our networks totally unaffectable by spam and scam,’ said Gopal Vittal, vice chairman and managing director, Bharti Airtel.
