Russian President Putin To PM Modi: ‘Perpetrators Of Pahalgam Attack And Their Supporters Must Be Brought To Justice’

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22. The Russian President extended full support to India in the fight against terrorism.

Putin condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam

“Russian President Vladimir Putin called PM Narendra Modi and strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, India. He conveyed deepest condolences on the loss of innocent lives and expressed full support to India in the fight against terrorism. He emphasised that the perpetrators of the heinous attack and their supporters must be brought to justice. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to further deepen India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. PM conveyed greetings to President Putin on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day and invited him for the Annual Summit to be held in India later in the year,” says MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

Lavrov had telephonic conversation with Jaishankar

Earlier on May 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S V Lavrov in a telephonic conversation with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed the terrorist attack near Pahalgam.Lavrov in his call with Jaishankar called for the settlement of disagreements between Delhi and Islamabad. Lavrov called for settlements by political and diplomatic means on a bilateral basis.

Following the Pahalgam attack, India has taken strong countermeasures against Pakistan for its support of cross-border terrorism.

Pahalgam terror attack

On April 22, terrorists attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen while leaving several others injured. It was noted that this attack came in the wake of the successful holding of elections in the Union Territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development.
