The Pakistan government has heightened the security of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed’s security in the wake of the Pahalgam terror incident. The Pak government and ISI took the decision fearing any covert operation by India, sources said.

Former commanders of the Special Service Group deployed

According to The Times of India, Saeed’s security has been beefed up by deploying former commanders of the Special Service Group and additional personnel of forces around his residence, sources said.

Each movement is being monitored

It is being said that Saeed has been lodged in a densely populated area, and the locality has a mosque and madrassa. Sources further said that his home has been converted into a sub-prison, as he is behind bars on paper. Sources said each movement is being monitored through CCTV.

Saeed’s close aide was killed in March

Saeed is wanted by India in connection with 2008 Mumbai terror attack. In March , Saeed’s close aide Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abu Qatal, charge-sheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the January 2023 Rajouri attacks, was shot dead in Pakistan after an assailant opened fire on his vehicle on the Mangla-Jhelum Road, local media reported.

Experts had predicted Saeed might face a “similar fate” soon.

Experts Say Abu Qatal’s Killing Signals Investigators Are Closing In on LeT Founder Hafiz Saeed

Expert Robinder Sachdeva had said that Abu Qatal’s killing indicates that those tracking LeT founder Hafiz Saeed and other terrorists are closing in.

“Hafiz Saeed’s close aide was killed, which means those who are tracking them have reached quite close. It is said that those who live by the sword die by the sword, and Hafiz Saeed might as well have to face a similar fate. Abu Qatal was involved in a lot of attacks in Kashmir, Rajouri, Poonch, PoK,” Sachdeva had said.

Qatal was the nephew of Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
