Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed his readiness to resume negotiations talks with Ukraine without any preconditions. According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Putin reiterated this stance during a meeting with Donald Trump’s envoy, Witkoff, underscoring that Russia remains open to dialogue.

“During yesterday’s talks with Trump’s envoy Witkoff, Vladimir Putin reiterated that Russia is ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, NDTV reported.

Meanwhile, hours after meeting Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rome, United States President Donald Trump on Saturday accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of launching missile strikes on civilian areas in recent days.

Taking the post-Truth Social, Trump said, “There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along and has to be dealt with differently, through ‘Banking’ or ‘Secondary Sanctions?’ Too many people are dying.”

This statement comes after President Trump’s meeting with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Vatican before Pope Francis’s funeral, on Saturday.

“Good meeting. One-on-one, we managed to discuss a lot. We hope for a result from all the things that were spoken about,” President Zelensky said in a social media post.

He further added that they discussed the “protection of the lives of our people. A complete and unconditional ceasefire. A reliable and lasting peace that will prevent a recurrence of war”.
