IPL 2025: Is This MS Dhoni’s Last Match Against Mumbai Indians? Here’s Why It Might Be

The game number 38 is set to be played between two IPL giants (Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Both sides will once again meet each other for the final time this season. When we are talking about final time, there is one player who might play his last game in MI vs CSK clash and that player is none other than the former Indian skipper and the current CSK skipper MS Dhoni.

Dhoni has been part of every IPL season and played for Two sides (CSK and RPS [now defunct]). Under his leadership, the Chennai based franchise reached news heights and won 5 titles under his captaincy. Apart from this, MS Dhoni also unleashed his batting prowess when team was in trouble.

MS Dhoni against MI

Against Mumbai Indians, the veteran scored 732 runs in 34 matches at an average of 38.52 with a strike rate of 137.85 with the highest score of 63*. Dhoni’s most memorable season with the bat was in 2018, where he amassed 455 runs at an average of 75.83 with a strike rate of 150.66 to lead CSK to their 3rd title win.

Will this be last hurrah for MS Dhoni?

Dhoni, 43 is currently the oldest captain to lead a team in IPL history. Despite showing a good level of fitness, fans cannot see the same Dhoni who used to blast away oppositions. Apart from LSG game, Dhoni’s recent performances raised concerns for CSK’s depleting batting-lineup. After Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury, the former skipper took the reigns for this season to lead the side.

Despite that, there is no ray of hope for the 5-time IPL champions. Probably, we can say this might be his last game against Mumbai Indians and last season in IPL.
