Akshay Kumar has teamed up with Karan Johar again for Kesari Chapter 2, which is set against the backdrop of Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is based on the book ‘The Case That Shook The Empire’, written by written by Raghu Palat. For the unversed, Palat is the great-grandson of C Sankaran Nair, who fought the Britishers in the court after the tragedy of Jallianwala Bagh.
At the trailer launch of Kesari Chapter 2, Raghu Palat became emotional on stage and praised everyone in the team. While adressing the media, he said, “This film is every emotional to me because it brought the struggle he went to life.” He further expressed his gratitude Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar and director Karan Singh Tyagi for making Kesari Chapter 2.
Kesari Chapter 2 also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. Ananya will also be seen as a lawyer, whereas, R Madhavan will lock horns with Akshay in this film.
Earlier, Karan Johar recently penned a long note for Kesari 2 and called it one of the proudest films of Dharma Productions. He said, “I am so proud to say that our next offering is the 24th debutant filmmaker we have introduced to Hindi cinema! (Trivia for trollers: 90% of them are ‘outsiders’) I rarely write notes before the release of a film but few films excite me, energise me and inspire me the way the process of this film has… Our collaborative producer and debutant director have been on the journey of this film for 4 years…the director did nothing else but put his head down and work relentlessly on his film – combating pandemic delays and other unforeseen circumstances.”
Karan further wrote, “I am inspired by the team of actors and technicians who gave the film and the team so much consistent support and love. One can never predict commercial success BUT what I can say with all my heart is that this film is one of Dharma’s proudest films! I say this as a filmmaker and an audience… I pray for the team that the audience is coloured in the colour of their passion. See you at the movies!”
Kesari Chapter 2 will release on April 18, 2025.
