Pune-Mumbai Expressway Toll To Rise By 3% From April 1; Heavier Vehicles To Pay More

international media news
March 19, 2025 77 Views0

Beginning on April 1 the Pune-Mumbai Expressway users must pay elevated toll fees because prices have gone up by 3%. The toll price changes affect all roadways under the monitoring of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

The annual toll rate adjustments take place on April 1st according to NHAI officials who verify the change depends on vehicle weight because heavier vehicles encounter larger price increases. As reported by Pune Pulse.

Revised Charges

Driving a four-wheeler in either direction through toll points will result in a ₹5 fee followed by an additional ₹10 for returning. Other types of vehicles will experience an average price increase between ₹15 and ₹20 according to official statements.

India Imposes Stricter Traffic Penalties

Taking an immediate step in a massive crackdown against reckless driving and rule violations on the roads, India, since March 1, has been enforcing new and stricter penalties. With new penalties already heavy on the pocket, those found guilty will now also get jail time or community service, which shows no tolerance toward traffic offenders.

Riding without a helmet has been a mere ₹100 fine but now it will cost you ₹1,000, which may lead to license cancellation for 3 months. Not buckling up will now punish you with a ₹1,000 fine too. Using a mobile phone while driving puts you back by a hefty ₹5,000 now from ₹500, which is a punishment to distract drivers seriously.
