‘Looking Forward To Seeing You In India’: PM Modi’s Heartfelt Note To Sunita Williams As NASA Astronaut Heads Home

 As the world awaits splashdown of Dragon Spacecraft carrying NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written letter to India’s one of most ‘illustrious daughters,’ Sunita Williams. Union Minister for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh informed about PM Modi’s letter to Williams through an X post. PM Modi in his letter, expressed that he is proud of Williams and her work. He mentioned that during his visit to US and meeting with President Trump and former President Joe Biden, he had inquired about her well-being.

What Did PM Modi Write?

PM Modi wrote, “I convey to you greetings from the people of India. At a programme today, I met the noted astronaut, Mr. Mike Massimino. During the course of our conversation, your name came up and we discussed how proud we are of you and your work. Following this interaction, I could not stop myself from writing to you. When I met President Trump or President Biden during my visits to the United States, I inquired about your well-being.”

He further stated that 1.4 billion Indians have always taken great pride in her achievements. PM Modi emphasised that despite being thousands of miles away, Williams remains close to everyone’s hearts. PM Modi added, “Even though you are thousands of miles away, you continue to remain close to our hearts. The people of India are praying for your good health and success in your mission.”

PM Modi also mentioned about Williams’ mother, Bonnie Pandya who must be waiting for her return most eagerly. “Ms. Bonnie Pandya must be keenly awaiting your return and I am sure that Late Deepakbhai’s blessings are with you as well. I fondly remember meeting him along with you during my visit to the United States in 2016,” wrote PM Modi in his letter.

PM Modi Invites Suni To India

He has further invited Williams to visit India and stated that it would be pleasure for the country to host her. “After your return, we are looking forward to seeing you in India. It will be a pleasure for India to host one of its most illustrious daughters,” added PM Modi.

PM Modi has sent best wishes for a safe return of both the NASA astronauts, Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams.
