John Abraham is back on the big screens with his new movie ‘The Diplomat’, which has been receiving a good response. The film is set against the backdrop of India–Pakistan relations. Meanwhile, John Abraham-starrer has an advantage in theatres as it is not facing tough competition from any other film. Check the box office collection of The Diplomat.

The Diplomat Box Office Collection Day 1:

According to the website Sacnilk, The Diplomat collected Rs 4 crore as per early estimates on day 1. The movie is expected to earn more over the first weekend.

About The Diplomat:

The movie focuses on a real life diplomat JP Singh, whose life takes a turn when Uzma Ahmed, a woman seeking refuge, arrives at the embassy. She claims to be an Indian citizen who was abducted and forced to marry a Pakistani man. Singh has to deal with complexities of international diplomacy, legal systems, and the pressure from both the Indian and Pakistani governments to deal with the tense situation.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, John talked about how the high cost is affecting the Hindi film industry. He shared, “It’s already hurting Hindi cinema. We [actors] don’t justify those huge budgets and the huge fees that we get paid.”

“We can’t load a film with an entourage cost as well, it’s ridiculous. I don’t know if the actor is not thinking, or their agent is making them think different,” he added.

The movie also stars Sadia Khateeb, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi and Revathy.
