‘Massive Cyberattack Against X’: Elon Musk Hints At A ‘Large, Coordinated Group Or Country’ Behind It

Testa CEO Elon Musk alleged a ‘massive cyberattack’ against micro-blogging platform X on Monday. He took to the site to share the details of the attack, stating that there might be a “large, coordinated group or country” behind it. His statement comes after a global outage was reported on the platform, and users worldwide could not access the site, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages.

The DOGE Head wrote on X, “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing…” He made the statement in response to a user who raised concerns, citing that the downtime was the result of an attack on X. “First, protests against DOGE. Then, Tesla stores were attacked. Now, 𝕏 is down. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that this downtime is the result of an attack on X,” the user said.

According to reports, the issue peaked at 3 pm on Monday, with around 2,612 users reporting the outage. This was followed by another set of complaints by 1,312 users between 6 pm and 7:30 pm. The platform continued to remain unstable for the third time around 9:00 pm last night.

Downdetector’s data shows that the number of problems reported exceeded the typical volume for that time of day. The outage sparked frustration among the users, who suggested “Musk should fire himself.” However, some users blamed countries like Ukraine for the downtime. A user wrote, “I guarantee Ukraine is behind it!” Another user from India said, “Not working in India right now.” Meanwhile, a third user asked Musk to “find out who did it, blast it out so everyone knows who’s doing it. They’re getting desperate.”
