France to Develop Upgraded Rafale Fighter Jets; Dassault May Open New Assembly Line In India

Rafale Fighter jets have become high in demand. India has already purchased these jets from France, and now the UAE is going to buy the advanced version of fighter jets. Dassault Aviation would manufacture its more upgraded version which will be powerful in performance, and it will be equipped with survivability and data links, a report suggested.

Dassault Aviation’s chief executive officer, Eric Trappier, said the Upgraded fighter jet will be accompanied by a more than 10-tonne unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV). The company said the UAV will complement the Rafale and be suited to collaborative combat. It will benefit from the achievements of the nEUROn program.

While talking to FlightGlobal, Trappier said it is expected that they will get the contract for F5’s development from the French government. He is anticipating that the Rafale F5 Standard will start offering its services by 2030.

The FlightGlobal report says that the F5 has been designed to deter nuclear missiles and conventional weapons. It has also been designed to carry out AS4NG war weapons. Scramjet-powered hypersonic missiles can also be installed in fighter jets.

However, the company will seek suggestions from the French government but Trappier said nuclear mission connectivity would be important for the fighter jet. He said several other systems will also be improved in the next upgraded version of Rafle like radar system and sensors.

Trappier said that they are anticipating more orders from India after the Indian Air Force purchased 36 Rafale fighter jets. He said talks are on in this regard. Trappier said that the company will open an assembly line to meet the demands by understating the needs on the ground.
