Women In The Workforce: Job Opportunities Surge By 48% In 2025 – Here’s What A Report Said

Women In The Workforce: India’s job market is witnessing a substantial reform, and opportunities for women are increasing by 48% in 2025 compared to the previous year, said a report by ‘foundit’. The report highlights key industries such as IT, BFSI, Manufacturing, and Healthcare as the main drivers of growth, complemented by a growing need for skilled individuals in emerging technology fields.

Anupama Bhimrajka, VP-Marketing of ‘foundit’ said, “The Indian job market is evolving rapidly, creating greater access and opportunities for women, particularly in high-growth industries and tech-driven roles.”

“We have also observed a 55% increase in work-from-office arrangements, signalling a shift in employer priorities. While challenges persist in areas like salary parity and evolving work-mode preferences, the overall outlook for women’s workforce participation in 2025 remains highly encouraging,” she added.

Job opportunities for women across different experience levels:

n in high demand, making up around 25% of all job openings for women. This is especially in fields like IT, Human Resources, and Marketing.

Women In The Workforce

The highest representation of women in the white-collar jobs is in the IT sector (23%), followed by BFSI (11%) and Education (6%).

Sector-wise comparison reveals a shift in job distribution for women

  • IT/Computers-Software sector’s share in women employment decreased slightly from 36% in February 2024 to 34% in February 2025.
  • Job opportunities for women in recruitment and staffing declined from 24% to 20%, and in BFSI from 23% to 21%.
  • Sectors like advertising, market research, public relations, and events saw a notable increase from 8% to 11%.
  • Engineering and production roles rose from 6% to 8%.

Currently, 26% of women are working in specialized tech roles, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Cloud Computing. For women professionals, the IT sector remains the dominant field, with its share increasing from 25% in 2024 to 32% in 2025. Meanwhile, Human Resources, rose from 18% to 21%, and Sales & Business Development, expanded from 12% to 15%.

Opportunities Beyond Metropolitans

An increasing number of women professionals are finding employment opportunities beyond India’s major metropolitan cities. The report said that in 2025, 41% of women’s jobs are based in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Nashik, Surat, Coimbatore, and Jaipur. Meanwhile, 59% are in Tier-1 cities.
