Actor Karthi has reportedly injured his leg on the sets of his much-anticipated film Sardar 2, the sequel to his 2022 hit Sardar. The accident occurred during the shooting of an important action sequence. Following the injury, the production has paused filming temporarily, with the team expecting to resume work after a week, depending on his recovery.

Injury Details And Treatment

According to reports, Karthi was filming an action scene in Mysuru when he hurt his leg. The team quickly rushed him to the hospital, where doctors advised him to take a week’s rest to recover. As a result, shooting has been halted for the time being, and the team is waiting for his recovery before resuming the schedule.

The production of Sardar 2 has already wrapped up about 80% of the shooting. Despite the delay caused by Karthi’s injury, the team remains optimistic that they will finish the remaining portions of the film soon. The film’s climax was recently shot at a studio in Chennai, where Karthi and co-star SJ Suryah filmed crucial sequences. The action stunts for these scenes were choreographed by Malayalam film stunt coordinator Chetan Ramshi D’Souza.

A Brief Setback For The Film

This is not the first time Sardar 2 has faced an interruption. Earlier in the production, the film had to be temporarily halted after a tragic incident occurred on set, where a stuntman fell to his death on the third day of shooting. Despite these setbacks, the team is hopeful that the film will stay on track.

Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 went into production in 2024. The sequel continues the story of Sardar, where Karthi reprises his roles as Agent Chandra Bose ‘Sardar’ and his son, Inspector Vijay Prakash. The film’s plot revolves around a disgraced Indian spy returning from exile to stop the launch of a suspicious water company. The original Sardar was one of the highest-grossing films of 2022.
