Sudhanshu Rai has made a name for himself as a storyteller and has impressed his listeners with his impressive narration and unique characters in his stories. He made his acting and directorial debut with a short film ‘Chaipatti’ and web series ‘Detective Boomrah’. He is all set to make his acting debut on the big screen with sci-fi supernatural thriller movie ‘Baida’. In an exclusive interview with News24, Sudhanshu talks about his experience of working with talented actors like Hiten Tejwani, Sourabh Raaj Jain and Tarun Khanna in ‘Baida’. He further talks about his transition to acting from being a storyteller.

Praising Hiten Tejwani’s acting skills, Sudhanshu reveals that the actor is completely different in front of a camera and has a good understanding of his characters. He recalls a scene with Hiten and tells us, “There were people all around us to watch him perform. Once he  finished his scene, people were clapping.”

He also praises his co-star Sourabh Raaj Jain’s amazing on-screen presence and reveals how he used to analyse the details of his character. He adds, “It’s easy for him to get into the character. His appearance for the film, his understanding of the character and how he gets the details were praiseworthy. I learnt a lot from him. Sourabh has a different vibe around him and we have also seen him as Lord Krishna in Mahabharat (TV show). I love what he has done in this film.”

He adds, “I also worked with Tarun Khanna, who plays Doctor Shekhawat in the film, and he is also very talented. You learn a lot when you are working with different people.”

Sudhanshu Rai, who is a well-known storyteller, also tells us about his decision of transitioning to acting. He reveals, “If you talk about my storytelling, I’m known for detective, supernatural, thriller, horror, sci-fi, time travel, talent universe. So, I’ve been writing in this particular segment for long. My fans and followers used to comment that if you will create a movie, if you create something which is more on the visual side as well, it will be something out of the box.”

“As a storyteller, when I used to write those stories, I used to read the characters and imagine the environment. I used to feel the characters. I used to feel the characters as well. I started writing the story and the next step was to get further and present the overall story, not only in the form of audio, but in the form of visuals as well. People can see the characters, the dialogues and feel them,” he adds.

Sudhanshu also shares that his hometown Gorakhpur and the folktales he heard as a child inspired ‘Baida’.

‘Baida’  will hit the theatres on March 21. Directed by Puneet Sharma, the movie stars Sudhanshu Rai, Hiten Tejwani, Sourabh Raaj Jain, Tarun Khanna, Shobhit Sujay, Manisha Rai, Akhlaq Ahmed (Azad), Deepak Wadhwa and Sidharth Banerjee.
