In response to a recent surge in terrorist attacks across Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a crucial high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Srinagar. The meeting comes on the heels of an IED blast in Akhnoor, Jammu, close to the Line of Control (LOC), which has raised alarms about the security situation in the UT.

According to official sources, the meeting was attended by senior officials from the Army, Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with representatives from various security agencies. The discussions primarily focused on assessing the current security landscape in the Kashmir Zone, with plans for a separate review of the Jammu Zone scheduled for tomorrow.
This strategic gathering follows a series of back-to-back security meetings led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, emphasizing the central government’s commitment to achieve the zero terrorist activities in the UT of J&K.
Key topics addressed during today’s meeting included counter-terrorism operations, infiltration attempts, and the alarming rise of drug abuse in Kashmir. The recent rallies held by terrorist organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) were also highlighted, where threats to intensify activities in Kashmir were made.
In light of these developments, directives were issued to the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) to maintain a strict vigilance along the International Border (IB) and LOC, ensuring zero infiltration of terrorists. The meeting underscored the imperative to respond swiftly and decisively to any infiltration attempts.
The Army has already heightened its alert status along the LOC in the Kashmir Valley following a series of terrorist incidents in Jammu, which resulted in the martyrdom of an Army officer and injuries to several soldiers.
Present at the meeting were Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), senior police officials from the Kashmir zone, top Army brass, and representatives from various security agencies, all committed to restoring complete peace and security in the region.
