Chiranjeevi Receives Backlash Over Remark About Wanting Grandson To Carry Legacy: ‘Scared He Might Have A Girl Again’

Chiranjeevi has been receiving backlash over his remark on wanting a grandson in a recent event. Even though that statement was supposed to be playful, it did not sit well with many people. He said that he tells his son Ram Charan to have a boy to carry the legacy of his family. He also added that Ram Charan’s daughter is the ‘apple of his eyes’.

During the event, he said, “When I’m at home, it doesn’t feel like I’m surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like I’m a ladies’ hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around. I keep wishing and telling (Ram) Charan, at least this time, have a boy so that our legacy continues, but his daughter is the apple of his eye…”

He added, “I’m scared that he might have a girl again.” Ram Charan and his wife Upasana welcomed a baby girl, Klin Kaara, in 2023.

Many people called out Chiranjeevi for his mindset and said that he should be promoting equality. Other netizens also pointed out the desire to have a male heir to carry their legacy.

On the work front, Chiranjeevi was last seen in Bhola Shankar along with Tamannaah Bhatia, Keerthy Suresh and Sushanth. The movie is the remake of the 2015 Tamil film Vedalam.

He will next star in ‘Vishwambhara’, along with Trisha, Kunal Kapoor, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Ashika Ranganath in lead roles.
