Ind Vs Eng: ICC Chair Jay Shah Announces Organ Donation Drive, Find Out Which Star Players Promoted The Cause

The ICC Chairman and former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has recently announced on his social media about launching of an ‘Organ Donation Drive’ taking place on 12th February on the 3rd ODI match against England in Ahmedabad. Top Indian athletes like Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul took out to the official social media handle of BCCI in creating awareness by urging people to do the needful for organ donation.

On his official X Jay Shah wrote, “On the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on February 12th, we are proud to launch an awareness initiative – “Donate Organs, Save Lives.” Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and create lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, we urge everyone to take a step towards giving the greatest gift of all – the gift of life. One pledge, one decision, can save multiple lives. Let’s come together and make a difference!“

Organ Donation- A Major Concern

Organ donation has always been one of the major concerns in the Indian medical fraternity. According to statistics India’s organ donation ratio is low as compared to other nations of the world. In 2019, the donation rate was 0.65 per million people. interestingly, Women make up 65% of the living organ donors. Also Kidney donations make up about 75% of living organ donations which is one of the highest organs among the donations.

India has clinched the ODI series against England by a 2-0 lead. The third ODI is scheduled on 12 February at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahemdabad.
