BLACKPINK member Jisoo is all set to return to acting with her new show ‘Newtopia’, which has created huge excitement among the fans. Apart from Jisoo, the show also stars Park Jeong Min in the lead role. ‘Newtopia’ is a comedy-thriller and is set against the backdrop of a zombie breakout. Apart from Jisoo and Park Jeon Min, the show also stars Im Sung Jae, Hong Seo Hee, Tang Jun Sang, Lee Hak Joo, and Kim Junhan.
Jisoo and Park Jeong Min will be seen as Kang Young-ju and Lee Jae-yoon respectively. They play the role of a couple, who have recently broken up.
While speaking to Variety, Park Jeong Min talked about why he wanted to be the part of Newtopia. He said, “It’s more adorable, humorous and light-hearted — a true zombie romantic comedy, a ‘zom-com’. That uniqueness was what made me want to be part of this project.”
He further talked about his chemistry and bond with Jisoo and said, “From the very first moment, the chemistry between us was great and it was easy to form a close bond.”
Speaking about her experience on the show, Jisoo said, “This was my first time working on a project set in a zombie apocalypse, and I discovered how much I enjoy filming action sequences. I always worked out on my days off, stretched before filming and stayed focused during rehearsals to prevent injuries.”
Further talking about the plot, she told Variety, “A zombie apocalypse can feel like a heavy theme, but ‘Newtopia’ balances the grimness with characters who navigate the chaos in unique ways, all while keeping a sense of humor.”
