New Expressways: These 5 Greenfield Expressways Set To Open Soon, Offering Big Benefits

In what may be called an attempt to increase connectivity and boost infrastructure, five expressways are near completion. Three of them may be ready before the Holi festival next year, and the remaining two expressways are expected to be completed by March 2026.

Five Greenfeild Expressways

The Ministry of Road Transport is carrying out the construction of all five Greenfield Expressways, with a strict completion deadline. Three expressways—Delhi-Mumbai (1386 km), Ahmedabad-Dholera (109 km), and Bengaluru-Chennai (262 km)—are expected to be ready before March 2025. Meanwhile, the work on the Lucknow-Kanpur (63 km) and Delhi-Amritsar-Katra (669 km) expressways is expected to be completed by early 2026.

NHAI: 90% Work Completed

Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have given an update on the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. They said that 90% of the work on the country’s longest expressway, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (Delhi to Vadodara), has been completed. The remaining work on this 1386 km long road will be finished on time.

The Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, which is 109 km long and estimated to cost ₹3,500 crore, is expected to be finished by March 2025. It will be constructed from Sarkhej, Sabarmati, and Khambhat near Sardar Patel Ring Road to Dholera, Adhelai, and Bhavnagar.

These Expressways To Be Operational Next Year

The 262 km long Greenfield Expressway, starting from Hoskote in Karnataka and reaching Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, is also said to be completed by March 2025. Additionally, rapid construction work is under process on the Kanpur-Lucknow and Delhi-Katra Expressways. If everything goes as planned, these expressways will be opened to the public by March 2025. The sections that are already completed are being opened for vehicle movement.
