Luke Shaw Resumes Training: A Boost For Manchester United’s Defense And Transfer Plans

Luke Shaw has returned to training with Man United, a major boost for manager Ruben Amorim as the club searches for possible recruitments to bolster the wing-back position. Shaw’s 2024-25 season underwent interruptions due to the injury problems that led to his first involvement under Amorim, in the 1-0 loss to Ipswich Town, with only limited appearances thereafter in the Europa League. He starred, however, during a convincing 4-0 win over Everton in the Premier League, until another injury kept him out last month, leaving the left-back “devastated.” However, training marks a potential step toward erasing the need for reinforcement in that area.

Shaw’s Gradual Return To Action

Luke Shaw has resumed full training at Carrington and will be considered fit for action probably after February. Coach Ruben Amorim has proposed a cautious routine as they assess how to reintegrate Shaw, emphasizing a slow and steady return process. Amorim explained that Shaw would do brief sessions of 10 minutes before the workload begins, progressively working for full recovery. The coach also indicated it would take at least two weeks of training before they start considering him for match minutes.

United’s Reinforcements Amid Injury Concerns

With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both struggling with injury issues, Man United have been on the lookout for left-back reinforcements. The club is also reportedly closing in on a €35 million (£30m/$37m) deal for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu following a rejection of an initial offer. It appears that this improved proposal will bring the Denmark international to Old Trafford, representing a first phonetic signing in Ruben Amorim’s club and providing essential balance in the left-back position. Shaw has at least a few weeks before he gets back into action, with an appearance versus Crystal Palace looking likely, with the club hoping that Shaw’s recovery and the possible arrival of Dorgu will help to ease the current defensive headaches.
