The Apex court has dismissed an application in US short seller firm Hindenburg-Adani group matter. The court has dismissed the application which was filed by lawyer who challenged the apex court’s Registrar order of August 5, 2024, which declined to register his previous application in the matter.

The application rejected by Registrar of apex court was to direct the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to submit its conclusive investigation report on the allegations made by the Hindenburg against the Adani Group, as reported by ANI.

In August 2024, a new allegation was made by Hindenburg Research against Madhabi Puri Buch, the Chair of SEBI. This lead to a fresh petition in the Apex court. This petition urged a prompt conclusion to the investigation into the Adani Group. The aimed to reinstate a previous request for a strict timeline on the SEBI’s probe into the Hindenburg’s accusation in January 2023 of stock manipulation and money laundering.
