The Australian cricket team faces some medical concerns ahead of their Sri Lankan Test series. Team captain Steve Smith is dealing with a right elbow injury, which occurred during a fielding incident in a Big Bash League match between the Sydney Sixers and Thunder. Despite this setback, the 35-year-old veteran remains committed to leading the squad in the upcoming two-Test series.

Smith plans to consult with medical specialists and still aims to join his teammates for pre-series preparation in Dubai. Meanwhile, the team has taken another hit with spinner Matt Kuhnemann being ruled out of contention. Kuhnemann, who was eyeing his first Test appearance in nearly two years, underwent surgery for a broken right thumb.

The news presents a challenging situation for the Australian side as they prepare for their Sri Lankan campaign. This can also hamper his performance in the Sri Lankan series which will be a sort of trial match before the Champions Trophy scheduled for next mont. Smit can be a very dangerous batter for which we witnessed his return of form in its years Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He smashed a total of 341 runs overcoming his century drought.

The injury concerns have raised many questions about Steve Smith’s appearance in further matches. Captain Pat Cummins, who is missing the Tests due to the birth of his second child, Smith is skippering Australia in his place. He continues to recover from soreness in his left ankle.
