Eintracht Frankfurt stayed hot in Europe League second qualifying round with a 2-0 home win over Borussia Dortmund . Dortmund were not able to trouble Frankfurt, even though they had a lot of possession against the visitors in Bucharest. The home side, without in-form Omar Marmoush because he had been replaced on the day, were ahead early through Hugo Ekitike and ran the game end to end. This loss adds more fuel to Dortmund, making sure they are in real danger of dropping out of the top 10 in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund’s Struggles Continue As Frankfurt Seals Victory

Frankfurt won 2-0 against Borussia Dortmund on Friday, kicking further pain for the rival visitors. Oscar Hojlund scored in stoppage-time as he took advantage of a midfield mistake from Dortmund, racing 40m to slide the ball under Gregor Kobel. Frankfurt played the game well even without important participant of this season Omar Marmoush, the home side were cool and clinical. The lead was extended when Hugo Ekitike popped into the final third and completed a fine pass into space for Aitor Mascaidto end Ragnar as Frankfurt wentin front in the 18th minute.

Dortmund Faces Tough Road Ahead, Marmoush’s Departure Looms

They could drop as low as 11th in the table eleven points from safety, after that run of one victory in six games for Dortmund. Dortmund midfielder Pascal Gross confessed that they were let down by not taking their chances in games this month but the team just does not deserve what it has done so far according to sporting director Sebastian Kehl, despite the difficult run of form. Marmoush has long been announced as toast at Frankfure, with Frankfurt boss Mario Goetze admitting his team have lost a key cog. That means even more strain is on Dortmund, who will play some top-flight opponents Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen next.
