At the 2025 Australian Open, Novak Djokovic will go down in history after becoming the new record stakes holder surpassing Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam singles matches played. The 37-year-old Serbian star reached an incredible milestone as he played his 430th major singles match in stunning fashion (a few years before surpassing Federer). In the second round he stormed past qualifier Jaime Faria at Melbourne Park, playing with purpose and grit as Djokovic pressed home victory to win 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2. It not only ensured his continuing march into the third round, but served as a comeback that only emphasizes Novak’s supreme longevity in grand slam play.

Djokovic Sets Historic Grand Slam Record With Passionate Dedication

With his 2025 Australian Open win Novak Djokovic owns the all-time list for most grand slam singles matches played in History (men and women combined), before Roger Federer whose last slam was at Wimbledon in 2021. Citing the milestone, Djokovic said of his relations to the sport “I love this sport. I love competition. For over 20 years, I’ve been competing in Grand Slams at the highest level. Whether I win or lose, I will always leave my heart out on the court. I’m just blessed to be making another record.”

Djokovic Eyes More History After Milestone Victory

In 2025, Novak Djokovic was crowned as the new winner at the Australian Open becoming 30+ with 150 Grand Slam singles victories first male. Now the Serb is in prime position to further secure his place in tennis history, a Melbourne title would be the 25th major of his career, tying Margaret Court in all time Grand Slam singles wins in Australia. Playing in the third round is seventh seed Andy Murray’s inspired man in the coaching box as the Czech 26th Tomas Machac half board for glory.
