Who Is Sriram Krishnan? Donald Trump Appoints Indian Origin Entrepreneur As Senior Policy Advisor For AI

US President-elect Donald Trump  announced the appointment of Indian-origin entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan as Senior Policy Advisor For Artificial Intelligence. While naming several appointees related to AI, Trump said, “Sriram Krishnan will serve as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.”

Trump further declared that Sriram’s role will focus on maintaining continued American leadership in AI and shaping the policy across Government, including “working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.”

In response, Sriram thanked Trump stating, “I’m honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI working closely with David Sacks.”

Who Is Sriram Krishnan?

Sriram Krishnan is an Indian American Entrepreneur who began his professional journey at Microsoft as a founding member of Windows Azure. As a tech industry veteran, he had earlier led product teams at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, & Snap and had reportedly worked along with South African-American entrepreneur David O. Sacks, named the White House AI & Crypto Czar.

According to reports, Krishnan shares a close bond with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. He had previously collaborated to revamp the micro-blogging platform X post its acquisition by Musk in 2022. He was also appointed as a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) in 2021. He led the firm’s London office in 2023, its first location outside America, until his departure in late November.
