After the grand success of ‘Gadar 2’, director Anil Sharma returned with another intriguing film ‘Vanvaas’. Starring Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles, the movie revolves around an elderly father dealing with dementia and has to face the harsh truth of being abandoned by his family. Despite its interesting plot, ‘Vanvaas’ has not been able to impress the audience and has performed low at the box office.
Vanvaas Box Office Collection Day 3:
According to the website Sacnilk, ‘Vanvaas’ collected Rs 1.30 crore as per early estimates. The movie has only earned Rs 2.85 crore in total.
The theme of family reminded the audience of the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Baghban’. In an exclusive interview , Utkarsh Sharma talks about the comparison between two films, about his character and more.
The actor shares that even though ‘Vanvaas’ and ‘Baghban’ have themes of family relationships, the movies are completely different. He told us, “Both ‘Vanvaas’ and ‘Baghban’ are family films but their genres are different. ‘Vanvaas’ is mostly a comedy film, which focuses on the social issue of old age abandonment. Whereas, Baghban was about parents’ separation due to their issues with their children.”
He further added, “Our story is told in a comedic way with rom-com included as well and the setting is different. The theme of family is similar in both the films but the story is different. The story of ‘Vanvaas’ is new and different with the elements of suspense in it.”
Apart from Utkarsh and Nana Patekar, ‘Vanvaas’ also stars Kushboo Sundar, Simrat Kaur and Rajpal Yadav in the lead roles. Directed and written by Anil Sharma, the movie released in theatres on December 20.
