The India vs Australia 3rd Test proved out to be a thriller when the Indian team avoided the follow-on courtesy a historic tenth wicket partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep. 47 runs from 78 balls in which Akash Deep contributed with 31 runs from 44 balls. His innings included two fours and one six. The latter played with a brilliant defence and worked the balls for singles and doubles whenever it was needed. The confidence was seen with the ball as well when Australia were reduced to 87/7 in the second innings. However, rain also proved out to be a major factor in the match which almost washed out three days in the clash.
Akash Deep Opens Up On His Mindset During Brisbane Test
While speaking to the reporters ahead of the IND vs AUS 4th Test, Akash Deep revealed about his mindset while batting in Brisbane. He stated that the number at which he bats was very low so his mindset was to contribute 20 to 30 valuable runs for the side. He added that the idea was just to remain at the crease and not think about the follow-on. Akash Deep said, “The number at which I came out to bat is very low so my mindset is to score 25-30 valuable runs for the side. My mindset while batting is always to contribute for the side and that day also in the Brisbane Test, I came out with the same mindset.”
“During that time, I was not thinking about the follow-on, the maiden idea was to remain on the crease. Everyone in the dressing room were confident after we saved the follow-on and were enjoying that moment”, Akash Deep added.
The India vs Australia fourth Test is set to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne from December 26.
