The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has seen history being created as the ongoing season’s 873rd six was hit during CSK’s innings by English all-rounder Moeen Ali.
By virtue of the feat, IPL 2022 has become the edition with the most sixes ever hit in a IPL season. The 15th edition of the tournament has broken the previous record that stood at 872 which were hit in the 2018 edition that saw CSK lift the title after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to lift the trophy for the third time.
It’s worth remembering that we are currently in the 61st match of the season. There are 14 matches still left before the completion of the season and one can expect a significantly higher new record to be set when the tournament finishes on 29th May at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
However, the ongoing 2022 IPL has been where batters have flourished with the tournament returning to India and being played on friendly pitches in four venues across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune.

N Jagadeesan playing his first game of the season scored a solid unbeaten knock of 39 in 33 balls. Mohammed Shami took two wickets for GT while Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, and R Sai Kishore took one scalp each.
