The clock is ticking and we are just a month away from the 8th edition of the T20 World Cup. This year, the tournament will be played in Australia. The country will be hosting the T20 WC for the first time. Australia will enter the tournament as defending champions and will have the pressure to become the first team to successfully defend the title.
India, who won the inaugural edition of the tournament under MS Dhoni, will enter T20 WC as one of the favourites to lift the trophy. The Men in Blue have already changed their batting approach before the ICC event and now the batters go for big shots right from ball 1.
Rohit Sharma has got good starts with this approach and it can be one of the best things for the players in the long run. India will open their campaign against Pakistan on October 23. Before the WC, the Rohit Sharma-led side is scheduled to play 6 T20Is and 2 warm-up matches. All in all, India have 8 matches to give it their all before the ICC event. As the fans wait for T20 WC, we have a look at India’s schedule before the event –
Aaron Finch-led Australia will land in India next week and the two teams will square off in 3 T20Is. It will be ideal preparation for both teams. The three fixtures will be played on September 20, 23 and 25 in Mohali, Nagpur and Hyderabad, respectively.
After hosting Australia, India will play 3 T20Is against South Africa on September 28, October 2 and 4 in Vizag, Guwahati and Indore, respectively. The series also includes 3 ODIs but the T20 WC-bound players won’t be part of the 50-over matches.
